Summary:

Salesians of Don Bosco of Nigeria (SDB) has been present in Nigeria since 1982. Ever since, the organization has successfully undertaken and implemented numerous activities and projects, including Technical and Vocation Education and Training (TVET) for young people, child protection, health, agriculture, and safe drinking water. The SDB proposed a project to establish a St. John Bosco Institute of Technology (JOBITECH) in Kubwa, Abuja, Nigeria. The project sought to train youth in skills acquisition to make them employable and self-sufficient.

To examine the project’s feasibility, FIFE assessed the multiple factors and contributions to interrelated causal chains of expected project results. We employed a mixed methodology approach combining qualitative methods (focus group discussion, key informant interviews, and observation) with quantitative methods (household and artisans surveys) for data collection. Overall, the study found that the project’s objectives perfectly align with the needs of the people in Kubwa.
