Situation
Friedensau Adventist University just like other educational and acedemic institutions had to resort to a sudden transition to online teaching and learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic between March and July 2020. However, there was a need to assess perception of lecturers and students on OTL, evaluate appropriateness/effectiveness and explore long-term OTL integration.
Solution
FIFE as an evaluation institute provided a technical solution through conducting an outcome-based and utilization-focused evaluation (online survey of 79 students & 26 lecturers, FGDs, KIIs with Rectorate).
Objectives
- 1 Assess perception of lecturers and students on OTL.
- 2 Evaluate appropriateness/effectiveness.
- 3 Explore long-term OTL integration.
Outcomes
- Highlighted success in meeting pandemic needs.
- Identified technical/pedagogical lessons.
- Outlined future OTL sustainability roadmap.
