The African Diaspora and Intra-African Migrants: Why Policy Clarity Matters

Debate has emerged over the African Union's (AU) definition of the African diaspora, especially regarding whether Africans living in other African countries should be included. This brief contends that the main challenge is not the AU definition itself, but the lack of clear differentiation and effective institutional implementation. Distinguishing between the African diaspora and intra-African migrants can strengthen both diaspora partnerships and regional integration.

Aquaculture, like other food systems, is sensitive to the effects of climate change and gender inequities. Climate change exacerbates and hampers gender equality efforts by reducing women's resilience, their ability to cope with and adapt to the adverse effects of climate change and impeding their ability to provide food for their families (Tirado et al., 2015). The primary objective of this study is to understand how gender-responsive aquaculture interventions enhance women's resilience in the face of climate change and facilitate women's empowerment. Do gender-responsive interventions in aquaculture? Effect on women’s access to aquaculture resources? Effect on gender equality of adaptive capacities? Effect on women’s agency in aquaculture?
